Roles and Responsibility
• Maintain a high profile in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices so as to provide a safe working environment for all employees and Contractors.
• Provide technical and professional review for the Operations department in all areas, e.g. train set efficiency, wagon management.
• Create and implement all service delivery documentation, review timetables, driver rosters and shift specific instructions.
• Liaise with customers on all operational day-to-day service delivery issues as required.
• Liaise with the NOCC team on all operational day-to-day service delivery and issues as required.
• Identify knowledge and training needs within the Operations team and produce training plans and material to address any shortfall.
• Complete safety tours and location compliance checks as defined within the CMS and periodicity matrices.
• Make sure that all accidents are investigated for the purpose of identifying root cause and developing, communicating and monitoring implementation of timely and effective rectification actions.
• Produce detailed reports at a frequency and content directed by the Operations Director
• Provide the network with an operational presence on a flexible shift pattern as required by the business.
• Perform Rail Incident Officer/Train Operations Liaison Officer duties as required.
• Support the training and development of new entrants to the industry.
• Maintain current train driver competence.
• Maintain groundstaff competence.
• Maintain loading standards competence.
• Maintain basic signalling competence.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Academic Qualifications:
• Educated to a high standard.
Professional Qualifications:
• Knowledge of applicable discipline-based railway standards,
• Knowledge of European Train Control System (ETCS),
• Knowledge of competence management systems,
• Full driving license.
Experience:
• Competency in train driving,
• Competency in groundstaff duties,
• Competency in loading of rail vehicles,
• Competence in Rail Incident Officer duties,
• Competency in basic signalling regulations,
• Experience in writing risk assessment and safe systems of work.
